The Resonant Frequency Damping Analyzer professional is used to do impulse excitation measurements at room temperature. The RFDA professional measures resonant frequency and internal friction or damping of samples with all kinds of shapes and calculates the Young’s modulus, Shear modulus, Poisson ratio of rectangular bars, discs, rods and discs with a hole in the center.
Samples are mechanically tapped by an automated tapping device. This insures a ballistic tap with every measurement and allows the operator to change the excitation force. The vibrations generated by this tap are detected by a microphone.
These signals are amplified and send to a computer using a data acquisition board, after which our software extracts the data. A user friendly interface allows for an easy interpretation and logging of the results. Comparing with the RFDA basic, this system insures the correct execution of every measurement and gives the operator more overall freedom. It also allows for a bigger variety of materials to be measured.
